An organisation promoting books, reading and writers to people of all ages and backgrounds throughout Scotland. SBT provides a wide range of information and services on Scottish Writers and books and develops initiatives to help support literacy and reading. SBT also maintains an outreach programme of talks, workshops and exhibitions as well as administering National Poetry Day and the Writers in Scotland Scheme.

Live Literature Scotland

Administered by Scottish Book Trust this Scheme supports registered writers by subsidising visits to schools, libraries, and community groups throughout Scotland. The Scheme is open to all schools and applications for funds must be received by SBT by January 31st of each year. Information and application forms for the Scheme are sent out to schools every September in the Curriculum File.

The Scottish Poetry Library

The SPL houses a collection of Scottish and international poetry in the form of books, magazines, audio and videotapes. Material can be borrowed free of charge in person, or for a small fee by post. Specialist lists and bibliographies can be produced. The Library's van is available for visits to schools and group visits to the Library are encouraged.

This is the official Burns site. It contains a poetry and songs archive as well as Maurice Lindsay's acclaimed Burns Encyclopaedia. Very accessible and the ideal starting point for researching Burns.
