I enjoy writing, especially poetry, as I like to use descriptive words
and a short style to give it pace. When I’ve written a good poem
I feel pleased.
This poem was inspired by my Primary 7 teacher who read an interesting
story of Carter’s adventures in discovering the tomb and suggested
we wrote poems about it.
My primary school teacher was very enthusiastic in getting her class to
write poetry and she talked a lot about genres and read us Norman MacCaig
and Roger McGough. I like Norman MacCaig’s style and used a similar
style for this poem. At home I enjoy reading George Mackay Brown’s
poetry.
