There are no footsteps leading to where she departed
She left no marks,
No sign she was even there
Sirens screamed, crying their urgency to the crowds
If they notice, they give no indication,
To the life which departs within metal confines
Energy has fled from a fading body
Can't let itself be dragged down into the sea
And can't give itself to let her have a chance
Can't even let her stand
Fear is growing under a smothering reassurance
Heart beats frenzied, keeps working itself to death
blood hammering through a network of veins
She puts on a brave face
Can't stand to see everyone pretending
That everything will be alright
So they leave her tied to her fate
Walk out of the room so everything seems normal
A mosquito lands on the wall and terrifies her
Again
In a foreign land she falls
Wishing she could speak just once more
Through the confines of breath turned against her
Dreams of a song drift through clouds of thoughts
Of a story she forgot how to write,
Of a picture she couldn't find to draw
What a waste
She had fallen, and woke to shouting
"Everything is OK! Everything will be fine!"
From the people she had hoped would know everything
Would something so bad really have
been so great a release,
flying instead of falling?
Earlier she had seen
A white butterfly gliding through
The monotone of the grey city
And had smiled
