A raindrop splurges into the forgotten puddle.
It makes no noise because no one is there to hear it
As the moonbeams dance along the alley,
Resting at a deserted pub of a thousand drinkers.
Two drunks sway into the pub's vision,
Cuddling each other as if the very essence of their lives
Depended upon it.
They look like two trees caught in a hurricane.
Two grown men with families forced
To surrender to the mercy of the bottle.
Depression falls over them like a soft and silent black veil.
One man picks up a bottle and hurls it at the unforgiving pavement,
Shattering into a million pieces of his broken dream.
A shard of glass splurges into the forgotten puddle;
It makes no noise because no one is there to hear it.
