My Bedroom

I look through the door to my Kingdom,
Feeling immediately at home as my bare toes touch
The soft cream coloured carpet.
Clothes litter the ground like fallen soldiers in a bloody battle.
Forgotten toys peek through from under the bed.
My hairbrush and straighteners lie askew on the floor,
Left from the usual morning rush.
Pictures of old memories stand on my wardrobe,
Forever doomed to stand and grin
Onto the battleground from their dusty frames.
A great change from little girl to teenager
Plagues my untidy room.
Last night's chocolate wrapper that just missed the bin
Completes the messy atmosphere

I stand and survey my Kingdom as I think to myself,
It may not be any royal palace, but it's home.
