A Cold, Cold Night
A cold, cold night
The moon was shining, lighting up the land
Like a golden apple
Night of the Vigil of Samhain
Such a clear sky with stars all twinkling
Druids on hilltops setting up fires
We believed those great fires would strengthen our holy sun god
Fires red hot
Animal corpses on the squealing flames
Crops, too, burning in the night
All our desires and dreams
Burning bright before us
It would soon be time for good and brightness
To fade, while in their footsteps
Evil and darkness would emerge
Our destiny is changing for the worst
Those fiery, crackling flames
How important they are
Monsters of passion dancing in the moonlight
Lighting up the land
In the morning embers would be brought to our homes
To light our own little fires of hope
Which will take us through these horrible times
And when winter comes to a close those embers will reunite us
With our glorious sun god.
